International Yoga Day 2026 was celebrated by Indiatic Foundation at Shri Sarasvati Shaikshanik Sankul, Ranip, Ahmedabad, with students coming together to learn about the importance of yoga, self-care and a healthy lifestyle.
The programme was designed to introduce students to yoga in a simple and engaging way, while helping them understand that physical activity and mental well-being are important parts of a healthy life. The celebration focused particularly on Surya Namaskar, combining awareness, guided practice and community participation.
Celebrating International Yoga Day with Students
The programme was conducted with students of Shri Sarasvati Shaikshanik Sankul, Ranip, the same school where Indiatic Foundation had previously conducted its World Water Day activity.
Students were introduced to the significance of International Yoga Day and discussed how yoga can become part of everyday life. The session covered the importance of maintaining physical fitness, developing healthy habits and taking time for self-care.
The discussion also touched upon the concept of self-healing and well-being, encouraging students to understand that taking care of their body and mind is an important part of personal development.
Rather than keeping the programme limited to a discussion, students were encouraged to participate actively and experience the practice themselves.
Learning and Practising Surya Namaskar
A key part of the celebration was a guided Surya Namaskar session. Students participated together and learned the sequence while understanding its role as a simple form of physical activity that can support flexibility, strength, balance and overall fitness.
Practising together made the session interactive and helped students experience yoga as something that can be incorporated into their daily routine.
The activity also encouraged students to see physical well-being as a regular habit rather than something that should only be addressed occasionally.
A Celebration Beyond Yoga
To make the International Yoga Day celebration more enjoyable and culturally engaging, the programme also included a Garba session. Students participated enthusiastically, creating a lively atmosphere and giving the celebration a community-oriented character.
The combination of yoga, physical activity and Garba allowed students to enjoy movement in different forms while creating an opportunity for interaction, participation and enjoyment.
The programme also included breakfast for the students, with poha served to the participants. Sharing a meal together added a warm and informal element to the event and helped bring the day’s activities to a positive close.
Impact Made Through the Event
The International Yoga Day programme provided students with more than an introduction to yoga. It created an opportunity for them to learn, practise and experience the value of physical activity and self-care in an engaging environment.
Through the Surya Namaskar session, students were encouraged to understand that maintaining wellness can begin with simple practices that can be incorporated into everyday routines. The discussion around self-healing and healthy habits further helped connect yoga with broader aspects of personal well-being.
The interactive nature of the programme also encouraged active participation rather than passive learning. The Garba session added another form of physical movement while creating a joyful and inclusive environment for students.
Most importantly, the event helped reinforce the idea that health and well-being are built through consistent everyday habits. By introducing students to yoga at a young age and making the experience enjoyable, the programme aimed to encourage them to continue exploring healthy practices beyond the event.
Encouraging Health and Well-Being
International Yoga Day is a reminder that wellness involves both physical and mental well-being. For young students, developing healthy habits early can play an important role in their overall growth and development.
Through this celebration at Shri Sarasvati Shaikshanik Sankul, Indiatic Foundation aimed to make yoga approachable, practical and enjoyable for students. The combination of awareness, Surya Namaskar, physical activity, Garba and a shared breakfast created a meaningful day centred around health, self-care and community participation.
The programme reflected Indiatic Foundation’s broader efforts to support initiatives that encourage education, health and wellness, youth development and positive community engagement.
